Miller started Trinary System towards the tail-end of Mission of Burma’s second act: he was looking for a way to free his guitar playing from the confines of a post-punk environment. The band fully found its voice just before this album was recorded, integrating minimalism, psychedelia, and post-prog structures into their raw indie aesthetic.
